From a simple PDF reader to a modern platform

How a basic, book-style Quran app became a rich platform with audio recitation, Qibla direction, and a community built around it.

Quran Touch brings the Quran to iOS with audio recitations, translations, Qibla, prayer times, offline reading, and need-based categories (e.g. what to read when sad). A community feature lets users request and share duas. The original app was a static PDF reader. The USA-based founder (roots in Egypt) had no in-house tech team and no profit motive — he trusted 6sense HQ with full creative control over design and usability.

What the team was up against

The founder had mission and valuable content — but not yet a product people would want to use every day.

  • From book to experience

The original app was a static book-style reader — no audio, no Qibla, no navigation by need instead of chapter.

  • Unlocking static content

Islamic books and references were stuck in PDFs and needed to become interactive, navigable in-app content.

  • No in-house technical team

He needed a partner to execute the vision as something true to his intent — not a generic template.

How we solved it

Six team members transformed Quran Touch into a modern interactive app in six months.

  • Rebuilt the core experience

Replaced the PDF reader with audio from multiple Qaris, Qibla, prayer times, and full offline reading — a daily companion, not just a book.

  • Interactive content

Structured the founder's library of books, duas, and Quran stories by user need — not by original document layout.

  • Engagement features

Request and share duas, plus usage tracking for engagement insight — interactive and social, not static.

What happened when things changed

Creative trust, content integrity, and long-term care after launch.

With latitude over design and usability, every category and navigation choice had to serve real reader needs — guidance, comfort, or specific passages.

PDF-to-app conversion preserved source integrity while restructuring material for mobile screens.

The team stayed engaged past launch with continuous updates — a community tool doesn't stop mattering once it ships.
